More Information

Prepare for your Vietnam family tour with these essential tips, tailored to the warm, humid, and rainy August weather of Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Halong Bay, Ho Chi Minh City, and Mekong Delta:

  • Travel Documents: Carry passports (valid for at least 6 months from the travel date) and authentic government ID cards for all family members. Obtain e-visas for Vietnam in advance here.
  • Clothing: Pack lightweight, breathable clothing like cotton t-shirts, shorts, or trek pants to stay cool in the warm and humid conditions of Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Halong Bay, Saigon, and Mekong Delta. Include lightweight rain jackets or ponchos for frequent afternoon showers during the monsoon season. Comfortable, quick-drying shoes with good grip are ideal for Hanoi’s Old Quarter, Ninh Binh’s cycling and boating, Halong Bay’s kayaking, Mekong Delta’s boat rides, and Cu Chi Tunnels, which may be muddy. Bring kid-friendly sandals for casual moments on the cruise or Mekong Delta.
  • Sun Protection: Bring sunscreen (SPF 40+), lip balm, and good U/V protection sunglasses for all family members to shield against the strong tropical sun during outdoor activities in Ninh Binh, Halong Bay, and Mekong Delta.
  • Health: Carry personal medicines (if any), kid-safe insect repellent for rural areas like Ninh Binh, Halong Bay, and Mekong Delta, and basic toiletries to stay comfortable in the humid climate.
